
Trump says the U.S. will tax goods from Europe (EU) soon, following taxes already planned on imports from Canada, Mexico, and China. He warns the UK is “not cooperating” but thinks new UK leader Keir Starmer might help fix things.
Starting Tuesday, the U.S. will add a 25% tax on Canadian/Mexican goods (like steel) and 10% on some Chinese products. Canada, Mexico, and China plan to hit back with their own taxes. China will also sue the U.S. through the World Trade Organization.
Asian stock markets dropped sharply as investors worry about a bigger trade war and economic ripple effects. Trump says he’ll talk to Mexico and Canada’s leaders Monday to try to resolve tensions.
