Israel and Hamas have made a deal to exchange prisoners. Four Israeli soldiers held by Hamas will be freed, and in return, Israel will release 200 Palestinian prisoners.

The Agreement
This deal was made with help from Egypt and Qatar. It is unusual because Israel and Hamas are long-time enemies.
The Hostages
The four Israelis were captured in Gaza by Hamas. Their families and the Israeli government are relieved they will return home.
The Palestinian Prisoners
Israel will free 200 Palestinians, including women and minors, over the next few weeks. Many of these prisoners have been held for years without charges.
Reactions
Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu called it a “big success.” Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh said it was a “win for Palestinians.”
What It Means
This deal shows rare cooperation between Israel and Hamas. It might open the door to more talks, but some Israelis are against releasing prisoners to Hamas.
