In a major legal update, the lawsuit accusing Sean “Diddy” Combs and Jay-Z of raping a 13-year-old girl in 2000 has been officially dismissed. The plaintiff’s attorney, Tony Buzbee, filed the dismissal in a Manhattan federal court on February 14, 2025. The case was dismissed “with prejudice,” meaning it cannot be refiled in the future.

The Allegations
The lawsuit, originally filed in October 2024, claimed that a woman, identified as Jane Doe, was drugged and sexually assaulted by Combs and Jay-Z at an afterparty following the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards. Both artists have strongly denied the accusations from the beginning.
Jay-Z called the lawsuit “false and ridiculous,” emphasizing how much distress it had caused him and his family. Meanwhile, Combs’ legal team also rejected the claims, stating that they were baseless and lacked evidence.
Diddy’s Legal Troubles Continue
Although this lawsuit has been dismissed, Diddy is still dealing with multiple legal battles. He is currently in jail, facing serious charges related to racketeering and sex trafficking, with his trial scheduled for May 2025.
Why Was the Case Dropped?
Jane Doe admitted that there were some inconsistencies in her story, but she stood by the core of her allegations. However, the exact reasons for the case being dismissed remain unknown. Both legal teams confirmed that no settlement was reached.
What This Means
This case is another example of how complex and intense high-profile legal battles can be. While the dismissal is a relief for Diddy and Jay-Z, it also raises questions about how the legal system handles serious allegations and the importance of thorough investigations.
